Cathay Cargo Orders Six Next-Generation Airbus A350Fs

Cathay Cargo, the air freight division of Cathay Pacific, has ordered six next-generation Airbus A350F freighters. This move signifies Cathay’s commitment to maintaining Hong Kong’s position as the “world’s number one air cargo hub.”

The agreement, announced on December 8, 2023, includes an option for Cathay to purchase an additional 20 A350F aircraft. The new planes will be instrumental in connecting Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland with destinations in North and South America, as well as Europe.

Cathay Cargo currently operates a fleet of 14 Boeing 747-8Fs and six Boeing 747-400ERFs. However, the airline sees the A350F as the key to its future growth and sustainability goals.

The A350F boasts impressive fuel efficiency, contributing significantly to Cathay’s sustainability leadership goals. This aligns with the airline’s vision for the future, considering the growing importance of sustainable practices in the aviation industry.
