Delta Airlines is set to enhance the in-flight experience for its passengers, starting with the introduction of its newest First Class seats on select Boeing 737-800 aircraft this month. This move is part of Delta’s broader initiative to offer a premium travel experience across its fleet.
In 2022, Delta unveiled these innovative First Class seats on its A321neo aircraft, receiving positive feedback from customers for the added privacy, increased stowage space for personal items, and the sturdier tray table. These features, coupled with enhanced comfort, underscore Delta’s commitment to improving the passenger experience. Mauricio Parise, Vice President of Brand Experience at Delta, highlighted the airline’s dedication to providing top-notch in-flight products and a consistent, elevated customer experience throughout the travel journey.
The upgrades extend beyond First Class. Delta is also revamping Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin seats on select Boeing 737-800 aircraft. These cabins will feature new, 10-inch Panasonic seatback screens, offering passengers access to over 1,000 hours of free premium entertainment through Delta Studio. The airline is also introducing upgraded lavatories equipped with touchless features, enhancing convenience and hygiene onboard.
In a move to reduce its environmental footprint, Delta is installing split-scimitar winglets on these aircraft. This upgrade not only modernizes the plane’s appearance but also significantly improves fuel efficiency, with an estimated savings of nearly 3.3 million gallons of fuel annually. This initiative reflects Delta’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and reducing emissions.
Continuous Fleet Enhancements
Delta’s commitment to elevating the customer experience is evident in its continuous fleet improvements. In addition to the First Class seat rollout, the airline has completed cabin refreshes across its Boeing 767-400ER and other widebody aircraft, introducing Delta Premium Select cabins. Further upgrades are planned for select Boeing 757 and widebody aircraft, promising even more premium options for travelers.
Recognizing the growing demand for premium travel experiences, Delta is expanding the Delta One cabin on its Airbus A350-900 fleet. The airline plans to add eight more lie-flat suites to these long-haul jets, increasing the total to 40 Delta One Suites. Alongside, the A350-900 will offer 40 Delta Premium Select seats, 36 Delta Comfort+ seats with extra legroom, and 159 Main Cabin seats. The first A350-900 aircraft featuring this new configuration is slated to enter service in Summer 2024, further enhancing Delta’s premium offerings.
