Emirates is Giving Apple iPhones or iPads to 20,000 Cabin Crew

Emirates has rolled out a new plan called ‘One Device,’ which is all about giving their 20,000 cabin crew members either an Apple iPhone 13 or an iPad Air. These Apple devices are not just for show; they come with custom apps designed to make life easier for both the crew and the passengers.

The Investment and Current User Stats

Emirates is serious about this tech initiative. They’ve already put more than AED 32 million into it. The project started a year ago, and it’s already showing results. Right now, over 7,000 crew members are using iPhones on 450 daily flights all over the world. And the numbers are set to grow. In the next few months, 5,000 more crew members will get these devices, loaded with new apps and features.

Before the devices were even distributed, Emirates’ in-house teams did a lot of research. They wanted to know what the cabin crew needed to do their jobs better. The result is a range of custom-built apps that make the crew more efficient and improve the passenger experience. One app speeds up the meal order-taking process in Business Class. Another app gives the crew real-time flight information and even shows which crew members are on board. The apps also let the crew see each passenger’s profile and Skywards status. This means the crew can offer a more personalized service, right down to knowing a passenger’s dining and drink preferences if they’ve flown before.

Safety and Support

Safety is a big deal for Emirates, and these devices help with that too. The crew can access 24/7 support from a team of experts at Emirates’ Dubai hub and also from Apple Support. They can also check official processes at any time through remotely updated operational manuals. The devices even serve as a platform for ongoing education through micro-learning. And don’t worry, the crew can use these iPhones for personal use, and all their private data stays private.

Apple devices are known for their quality, and that’s important in the demanding environment that cabin crew work in. These devices have fast charging, extended battery life, and a lightweight design. On top of that, Apple’s top-notch security features make sure that both customer and crew information stays safe. The devices use secure Face ID to confirm user identity and remove flight information once the journey is over.

Support at Headquarters

Emirates is backing this initiative with solid support. They’ve set up an in-person experience zone at their headquarters in Dubai. It’s a 24/7 one-stop-shop where cabin crew can get help with hardware and software issues, access Emirates application support, and even pick up device accessories.

Emirates is investing heavily in technology to improve the experience for both their crew and passengers. With the ‘One Device’ initiative, they’re distributing Apple devices to thousands of crew members, loaded with custom apps designed to make everyone’s life easier and more efficient.
