Moreover, we can use the remaining fuel for the following day or perhaps fill up before prices increase. However, this is not the case for planes. Their tanks are not always filled to capacity. In fact, the amount of fuel carried depends on various factors, such as the route, aircraft type, passenger load, cargo load, and more. Before we delve into how much fuel planes carry, let’s first look at where all the fuel is stored.

Commercial aircraft carry their fuel in specialized tanks strategically placed throughout the fuselage and wings. These tanks are typically made of lightweight yet strong materials like aluminum or composite materials to minimize overall aircraft weight while ensuring structural integrity. The number and size of these tanks vary depending on the aircraft type and its intended range.
