How to make your flight attendants like you

How to make your flight attendants like you

Flight attendants are very attractive people. There are some passengers who attempt to get the flight attendants to notice them but are unsuccessful. Allow me to give you some tips and advice if you want to make your flight attendants happy enough to like you.

All of these tips and suggestions boil down to one thing: be a good passenger.

Greet your flight attendants back when they greet and welcome you on board

Flight attendants are already accustomed to not being greeted in return. However, greeting them with a smile makes them feel good because you acknowledge their presence. Of course, it’s appropriate to return greetings, especially if they come first.

Stow your own luggage unto the overhead compartment

To begin with, it is not the cabin crew’s responsibility to stow passenger luggage in the overhead compartment. They can, however, assist those in need, such as people with disabilities, pregnant women, and the elderly. However, if you are able-bodied, please do not initiate a conversation with them by having them lift your luggage. Simply do not.

Don’t keep buzzing the call bell

Simply press it once. They’ll notice you because it alerts them from the front or back of the plane. However, don’t expect them to attend to you right away, particularly during takeoff and landing. Only use the call button repeatedly if you are in an emergency and require immediate medical attention.

Pay attention to their safety demo

Flight attendants are well aware that most passengers do not pay attention to their safety demonstration, but it makes them happy when someone does. So, if you want your flight attendant to notice you during the safety demonstration, simply pay attention. Furthermore, you must always pay attention to the safety demonstration. It’s for your own protection.

Commend them after your flight

Many flight attendants do not accept tips, but if you truly want to express your gratitude for their exceptional service, send an email to the airline or write a short note to the flight’s lead crew or purser. These accolades mean a lot to the cabin crew. It provides them with motivation.

Always say thank you with a smile when they serve you

These flight attendants value your smiles as well. While it is difficult to tell how long they have been working because of how they can groom themselves to look fresh throughout the day, some may already be tired. For them, a simple “thank you” with a smile goes a long way.

Keep the lavatory clean after you use it

Put your trash, such as used toilet paper, in the appropriate bins. If water gets all over the sink and mirror, try wiping it off yourself. Use the lavatory with the next passenger in mind. Flight attendants would appreciate it if you kept the lavatory clean after using it. It also makes their jobs easier.

Return their pens if you borrow them

Many passengers take ballpoint pens from cabin crew members but do not return them. Please remember to return any ballpens borrowed from a flight attendant. It is also proper that we return all borrowed items, no matter how large or small.

Please ask permission from your flight attendants first if you want to take their photos or videos

Respect their privacy as you would like yours to be respected. If you want to take a picture with your cabin crew or if you want to take their picture, please get their permission first. Don’t just photograph them without their knowledge. These flight attendants have the right to file a complaint against you for violating their privacy. Always seek permission before taking photos or videos.

Thank them for their services as you deplane

Always thank them for a fantastic flight when you disembark. You can always commend them as well. Remember to smile once more.

What do all of these things mean? Be a good passenger! The more you make your flight attendants happy, the more likely it is that you will be noticed.

Being a flight attendant is a tough job. You’re on your feet all day listening to complaints from hard to please people. A little kindness goes a long way. If I’m on an international flight I take a good box of chocolate for them. Not cheap chocolate. I think they appreciate the gesture and that they’re being recognized for the job they do. First and foremost a flight attendants job is to keep us safe. Having them serve dinner and drinks is secondary. The next flight you take be kind, say please and thank you and maybe take a box of chocolate.
