Never underestimate one’s capability to become a cabin crew

When you hear a little girl, a sales lady, a waiter, a water boy, a plus-sized person, a dark-skin toned person, and someone working hard tells you that they want to be a flight attendant, never look down or make fun of that person. You might end up eating your words. These are the people who will work hard to earn their wings. These are the people who will change to meet airline standards. Never underestimate one’s capability to become a cabin crew in due time.

Many flight attendants were a barista, a waiter, the daughter of a driver, sons of a security guards, an overweight person, and so much more. Sad to say that many Filipinos tend to judge others based on what they see without looking below the water. It’s like thinking that the iceberg is small without knowing that it is 100 times its size beneath the seas. The saying goes, “what you see is just the tip of the iceberg.”

Never make fun of people who want to become a cabin crew

Do not make fun of a chubby person who says, “I will be a flight attendant,” there are gyms and parks where they could exercise. Do not discourage someone from becoming a flight attendant; mind your own business. It’s their life, not yours. Do not stop our aspirants who keep on applying and are constantly working hard to make changes for the better to earn their wings one day; there is no such thing as “wasted time,” especially when they’ve already earned their wings. Giving up is never an option.

Please do not make fun of a dark-skin person telling you he wants to be a cabin crew. The local airlines love morenos and morenas because they represent classic Filipino beauty. More so, stop spreading false information to discourage others, primarily if you’ve never worked for the airline or aviation industry.

Nothing is impossible, especially if someone prays, have faith in God, never gives up, and works hard regardless of what happens.

Never make fun of our aspirants with a “lakas mo mangarap” because it’s better to have big dreams than small ones. God made us capable of achieving them, no matter how big or small they are. All the most significant accomplishments started with a dream and a single step.

Be an encourager, not a discourager

Instead, encourage them, cheer for them, and help them. Help those who strive to help themselves. When the times get tough, do not give up. Keep encouraging and believe in these aspirants. Accompany them on their journey by assisting them to be better.

Well, I do suggest to help those only who are willing to help themselves and who will take your advice constructively.

But wait, saying “wag ka mag cabin crew, mag ibang trabaho ka nalang kasi sayang skills at pinagaralan mo” is NOT a form of support or concern!!! It is a form of discouragement. Genuine concern happens when you support and encourage someone to reach for their dreams, especially if they are willing to learn and is open to change for the better.

So keep supporting our flight attendant dreamers. Do not discourage or look down on them. Cheer for them. At the end, iba ang feeling na alam mo naka tulong ka.
