AirAsia Philippines posts 93% load factor in 2Q 2022

AirAsia Philippines (PAA) continues to post the highest load factor among all AirAsia subsidiaries. Its second-quarter 2022 numbers show a 93% load factor, fifteen points higher than the same period of 2021. AirAsia Philippines continues to add more routes, increase frequencies, and forge ties with tourism stakeholders in the Philippines.

All their efforts in pushing more tourism and safer travels are definitely paying off.

AirAsia Philippines also carried 994,527 passengers in the same period, compared to 171,543 in 2021. In terms of growth in the number of seats flown, the airline hit one million as compared to 220,000 in 2021.

AirAsia Malaysia however carried the most passengers which are at 3.85 million. Its load factor has also increased to 84% compared to 74% in the first quarter of 2021

Highest load factor since first quarter 2022

AirAsia Philippines continues to lead all AirAsia subsidiaries in terms of load factor. In the first quarter of 2022, the Philippines subsidiary hit an 86% load factor.

These are indeed very strong indications that the Philippines’ domestic travel industry is taking a strong rebound, driven by revenge travel. Total flights have also increased from 1,219 to 5,949.

International flights also continue to increase. PAA has increased frequencies and resumed international flights to Kota Kinabalu, Seoul Incheon, Hong Kong, and Guangzhou.

AirAsia Philippines geared towards operating Airbus A321neo and A330neo jets

AirAsia Philippines has set its eyes on going further by aiming to acquire Airbus A321neo and A330neo aircraft to augment its goals. The A321neo will allow PAA to increase capacity without having to add more frequencies. Carrying 236 seats, the A321neo will allow PAA to carry more passengers while enjoying fuel savings of as much as 15%.

The A330neo will on the other hand allow PAA to fly to longer routes, particularly the Middle East and Australia to serve a wider Filipino market overseas.

Things are indeed looking good for AirAsia Philippines so far, especially now that the airasia Super App is now present in the country. The airasia Super App will allow travelers to enjoy a wider range of services to suit their jetsetter lifestyle which includes food, logistics, and land rides.
