United is adding more transatlantic flights for its summer 2024 schedule. This includes new non-stop flights from New York/Newark to Faro, Portugal, Reykjavik, Brussels, Rome, and Malaga. Plus, they’re bringing back nine seasonal routes to Europe up to two months earlier than usual.
New Destinations on the Map
Starting May 24, 2024, United will be the only airline offering a direct flight from the United States to Faro, Portugal. This new route will operate four times a week on a Boeing 757-200, making it easier for travelers to explore Portugal’s stunning Algarve region. United already has a strong presence in Portugal, with year-round flights to Lisbon and seasonal services to Porto and Ponta Delgada in the Azores.
But that’s not all. On May 23, United will also resume its seasonal flights to Reykjavik, which were last operated in the summer of 2022. These flights will be daily and will also use a Boeing 757-200. In addition, United is adding more flights to popular European destinations. Starting March 30, there will be a second daily flight between New York/Newark and Brussels. On May 23, a second daily flight will be added between Washington/Dulles and Rome. And starting May 2, the New York/Newark to Malaga route will be a daily service.
Early Returns for Seasonal Routes
United is also responding to the high demand for spring travel to Europe. The airline saw a 33% increase in transatlantic customers last spring compared to 2022 and expects this trend to continue in 2024. To meet this demand, United is resuming several popular seasonal routes earlier than usual. Starting February 15, flights from Washington Dulles to Lisbon, Barcelona, and Rome will be back in action. Other early returns include routes from New York/Newark to Nice and Malaga, as well as from Chicago O’Hare to Rome and Milan.
More Than Just Europe
While Europe is a significant focus, United is also expanding its network in the Asia-Pacific and Latin America regions next summer. The airline plans to increase its Pacific network by over 30%, including new routes from San Francisco to Manila and Beijing. United’s Latin American schedule will also see a 10% growth, with new routes like Denver to San Juan and Montego Bay, and New York/Newark to Barbados and Curaçao.
United is significantly expanding its summer 2024 schedule with new routes and earlier starts for seasonal services. Whether you’re planning to visit Europe, Asia-Pacific, or Latin America, United offers a wide range of options to fit your travel needs.
